They call it a "Cake Smash"

Though, at this point, I think it should be renamed. It's more like the "dip your fingers in cake", "touch the cake and quickly shake your hands to get it off", "gently touch the cake", "taste cake for the first time", "have your sibling try to show you how to eat cake", "look at the cake, cry a little". I've seen a lot of one-year-olds eat cake, most of them do nothing close to smashing it. Find me a cake smasher, I will gladly show up with camera in hand. That being said, what does usually happen at these photo shoots is still probably the cutest thing I get to witness. I could stare at a baby gently eating a cake through my view finder, for probably hours, and not get tired of it. But one thing is for sure, every cake smash session is different and I wanted to showcase some of the ones I've photographed.

Penelope's Travel Studio Cake Smash

Ari's Counter Cake Smash (with bubble bath!)

Miles's Travel Studio Cake Smash

Dean's Home Cake Smash

Savannah's Counter Cake Smash (also with bubbles)

So, maybe it's not a cake smash

But it never gets old. Seriously looking forward to all those future cake smash shoots in my future. And here's to manifesting many, many more.
